F.A.X. My Style Event Oct 6 2003

As we approach the month of October let's remember the fight against Cancer and reflect back on the "My Style" show of 2003. We benefited the Amercan Cancer Society By honoring 6 Breast Cancer survivors! (not to mention the 3,000.00 check) We pulled together 15 different designers of color to represent their own styles. We had Diva Gray& Kim Hampton sing songs of hope . We had a F.I.T. E.O.P. student Fashion competition with Denim Fabric donated by Burlington Mills and awarded 1st ,2nd &3rd prizes to the lucky winners.

The F.A.X. GROUP doin' what it does best....community service!!

9/11-Let's not forget

While it is still Fashion week . Let's not forget those of us who lost loved ones on 9/11 six years ago. We here in New York have the most surreal memories over all others. But, it makes us stronger and hopefully closer. say a prayer.

Fashion Week

It's hard to believe that it's Fashion Week again!! This is a great time for all of us to come together and show what's really good for the up and coming season. Ask yourself when was the last time your supported a designer of color? The season we are focused on right now is Spring 2008. That's right, I know we are still enjoying the warm weather of this summer but for those of us in the " Fashion Business " this is one of our most important seasons. Even though we do like summer,we like the the Fall market because stores are willing to spend more money on goods. Anyway, here we are in The month of September. The schools are all open .Classes have been in session here in New York for a week now. Back to fashion, we're looking forward to viewing all the collections. I'm upset because know that I'm missing Tracy Reese's show.(she always does her show on the opening Sunday) I've got to be at church today.Who's working the tent shows with the Ground Crew? I remember being a part of all that with the Master Diva herself Ms. Audrey Smaltz. What a wonderful experience that is. With the ground crew you dress the models in all the major shows. You work as a team and you must go through training first. If you're a young person going to college for fashion or a young designer from out of town the ground crew is a great networking base for you to get involved with. check out the website at www.groundcrew.net to see how and if you can get involved.Since I'm not traveling into the city everyday anymore it's hard for me to see many shows . But I try to at least pick one day that I can support as many designers as possible. This time it looks like Wednesday is going to be the day for me since my friend Shaya invited me to her show at Gotham hall. I've inserted her flyer here so that all of you (members and friends)can check it out as well . I respect the way that she has framed her business in that she can help & support up and coming designers while showcasing her company as well. Keep up the good work girlfriend! Hopefully I'll see some of you in the Garment District ths week. Good luck to all the designers. Have a great season and let's not forget to say a special prayer on Tuesday for all those who lost loved ones on 9/11/01.
